1. Evaluate your own site before asking for a review. Ask yourself each of the following questions before proceeding…

A. The moment you arrive at the site, what does it tell you? What is the very first item that strikes you and grabs your attention?

B. Can you tell what the site is selling or what the theme of the site is in the first 6 seconds of your arrival? What, from your perspective, does this site sell?

C. If the site sells physical products, judging by the mix of product images and copy on the home page, would you say that this site sells -
·High End, Niche type products or accessories
·Gift or knick-knack products
·Specialty, or industry specific products
·Everyday use products

Why do you get that impression?
D. If the site sells information products, a single, specialized product, or is an affiliate site, is there a clear call to action?
Example: “Buy Now”
“Get our Free Trial Download”
“For more information, click here”
“For a free sample, click here”
“Sign up and get our Free Report”

E. Is the site credible? Based on your gut, would you get your wallet out and give them your money? This is not about price or sales copy; it’s about design. Does it feel like a legitimate store? If your gut feeling is “Well….”, then what would make you feel better about spending your money here?

F. If you wanted to ask the site owner a question, or wanted more information about a product, is there an easy mechanism for you to do so?

G. Imagine that you have arrived at the exact site that sells the exact TYPE of product you’re looking for.
Once you arrive at the site, are there options for you to explore? Are there other products that might peek your interest, or are related to your primary interest? Are there products there that you might purchase IN ADDITION to what you’re originally searching for?

H. If applicable, follow the navigation of the site to the “Department Level”. Is the Department or Category of this hop relevant to the link that you followed? Does it make sense?

I. Follow the Navigation to the “Product Level”. Does the Navigation to the Product Level make sense? Can you easily find your way back to the “Department Level”? How about the “Home Page”? Is the navigation logical and easy to follow? Do you see any issues?

J.In the case of a single page sales site, or an affiliate site, can you see any other links that you are compelled to click on? Maybe it’s a testimonial page, or a review page, or an information article. Basically, what do you WANT to click on besides the “Buy” button?

K. What’s your opinion of the font? How about the layout? Is it easy to read? Does the text lead you to other points on the page?

L.Rate the quality and use of the images, both product and non-product (logo, etc.) related.Do they look professional?

M.Read a portion of text for one department page and one product. Does the copy include Features and Benefits? Is it informative? Is it Good English? Is it Fluffy? Too Fluffy? Are there phrase that you tune out because they are over-used?

N.Can you identify this sites unique selling proposition? Is it a Long Guarantee? Free Shipping? Outstanding Quality? Fabulous Customer Service? Is there some gimmick that makes the site stand out from the noise we see online? What makes this site different? What does this site have to offer the market?

O.Pick a product and check out. Don’t order (unless you really want to). Is the check out process logical and easy to follow?

P.Any glaring issues? Spelling mistakes, old dates, outdated information, or missing or incomplete images/pages?

2. Once you’ve done all this, if you want a site review, please be specific. Exactly what do you want reviewed? Everyone is busy. Those who reply do not have the time to do all the workfor you. On the other hand if you want specific input after you have done everything you can, we are here to help.

3. Only ask about one web site at a time.

4. Remember to post the name and URL of the site you wish to have reviewed.

5. Expect your critics to be direct, blunt and, sometimes, harsh.We don’t want you wasting your time and money on something that we know will fail.
