The Risks Of Travelling Without Travel Insurance

I've heard it argued that a certain level of scaremongering goes on in pushing people into buying travel insurance, and that it's often overpriced. Having done more than a hundred and twenty trips all over the world, I can honestly tell you that nothing is further from the truth. God forbid that even the smallest accident should happen to you when you are abroad.
Yet accidents do happen; they are a fact of life,Monster beats, and they need to be acknowledged. The quality of care you'll receive depends hugely on what part of the world you find yourself in at the time. Don't make the mistake of assuming that the type of care we get here at home is reciprocated across the Atlantic.
America for instance has no equivalent to the NHS, and all medical services- from toothache to a triple bypass- will come with a bill attached. Travelling in such a huge, diverse country with its well known different kinds of territories throws up all sorts of potential pitfalls, and travelling without an insurance policy is an invitation to disaster.
Further away in the less developed parts of the Far East and South America,Vibram Five Fingers Sale, health care is often far, far more primitive than in Europe. There might be an urgent need for your repatriation in such cases but, without travel insurance, any such costs- and they are astronomical- are going to land squarely in the laps of your nearest and dearest, and believe me they will already be stressed enough worrying about you.
Travelling without insurance is thus not only a false economy; it is downright selfish, short sighted and pig headed. Don't forget that your travel insurance also covers your luggage. In the event that you don't take out insurance, what happens if and when you and your cases don't enjoy an emotional reunion when you're ten thousand miles from home, and the nearest shops are in some beach resort about two hundred miles away? You literally have nothing to fall back on but your own immediate reserves.
Ultimately you are cheating yourself by not taking out insurance. Sure, you might save a pound or two, but you're depriving yourself of security, a safety blanket, and any kind of real peace of mind in the event that things do indeed go wrong. It's ok to forget the sunscreen because you can always pick that up abroad.
But travel insurance is absolutely the one cover you need from head to toe before you even set out for the airport. And that's a fact.
